Well, everyone has been asking me when | jimmages | was going to make the big announcement that Jacki and I have been promising.
Here it is (drumroll, please)
| jimmages | is proud to announce the grand opening of our North Studio. We're relocating the studio portion of our business to Denison, and in the old Katy Depot building.
For those who don't live in Grayson County, the Katy Depot is the old train depot that used to serve as the roundhouse and the passenger boarding location for the MKT Railroad.
Some historical perspective: The MKT (Missouri/Kansas/Texas) was a huge factor in the development of Denison. In fact, Denison was named after a vice president of the Katy Railroad.
This particular building that we are now in was built in 1909. And it's perfect for our studios. We have a super big room for our main portrait studio, but we also have run of the depot, which includes tons of cool corners, staircases, corridors, bannisters and hallways. It also affords us really beautiful outdoor looks with statues, fountains, brick, and of course, trains!
It's also kind of cool for me personally, for two main reasons. I was actually born in Denison, and have always had a railroad connection, since my dad was an engineer for 35 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Plus Jacki's and my affinity for old things is evident by the fact that we live in an 88 year old home in Sherman, which will continue to be our home base.
We were just up there today doing some work on her, and I snapped a few photos. Please keep in mind that it's not complete, but I just couldn't keep it a secret any longer that we now have the coolest studio of any photographer that we know of, and we know a lot of photographers!
Here are some random shots of the outside of the building, and the inside of the depot but not actually in our studio room (yes, we are the only photographers to have access to shoot anywhere in the building that we want)...
